BestWayDigital ("we", "us") provides AI-assisted eBay listing optimisation tools at bestwaydigital.co.uk. This policy explains what personal data we collect, why, and the rights you have under the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018 (and, for EU visitors, the EU GDPR).

What we collect and why

Cookies
We use only essential, first-party cookies. No advertising or tracking cookies, and no third-party analytics. Because nothing we set is used for advertising, profiling or measurement, UK PECR and the EU ePrivacy rules do not require us to ask your permission before setting them, so you will not find a consent pop-up here asking you to accept something you have no reason to refuse. We tell you what is set instead, which is the part the law does require.
- bwd_vid - anonymous identifier used for the free tool's daily fair-use limit (12 months).
- bwd_operator - set only for staff sign-in (12 months).
- bwd_cookie_ack - remembers that you have seen the cookie notice, so it is not shown again (browser local storage, not a cookie).
- Your access code may be remembered in your own browser's local storage so you stay signed in. It never leaves your device except when you use the tool.
Who processes data for us
- Stripe (payments) - see the Stripe privacy policy.
- AI providers via OpenRouter (OpenAI and Anthropic models) - receive the public listing text of the items you submit in order to write your content. They receive no account or payment information about you.
- OVH (server hosting, EU data centre).
What we never do
- We never sell or share your data for marketing.
- We never ask for your eBay password and you should never share it with anyone. Our tools work only with public listing data and eBay's official developer APIs.
- We never store card details.
Listing monitoring (the Decay Radar)
eBay changes what a category requires without announcing it, and a listing that was complete in March can quietly stop matching buyer filters in June. To warn you about that, we keep a small record of each listing we generate for you: the item number, its eBay category, the item specifics we wrote, and the range of competitor prices we saw at the time. Every week we take a snapshot of eBay's own category rules and compare it with the previous one. If something you rely on has changed, we can then show you which listing is affected and what changed.
Why we are allowed to do this. We rely on legitimate interest: keeping the work you paid for from silently degrading is something a seller would reasonably expect from an optimisation service, the record is limited to listing data you gave us and eBay's own public category information, and it contains nothing sensitive. We have weighed this against your interests and it does not override them, not least because you can end it in one click.
How to stop it. On the Decay Radar page, "Stop monitoring and delete everything we hold" erases every monitoring record held under your access code immediately. Your listings on eBay are not touched, and you can carry on using every other part of the service. You can also email us and we will do it for you.
What monitoring is not. We do not watch your eBay account, your sales, your messages or your buyers. We hold no eBay credentials, and everything we read about a listing is the public information eBay's own API returns to anyone.
How long we keep things
Uploaded files: read once, not stored. Generated batches: up to 12 months so you can re-download them. Access codes: 12 months from issue. Fair-use counters: reset daily. Listing monitoring records: kept for as long as you want the listing monitored, and deleted straight away when you switch monitoring off or ask us to remove them.
Your rights
You can ask us at any time to access, correct, delete or export the personal data we hold about you, or object to our processing. Email sales@bestwaydigital.co.uk and we will respond within one month. If you are unhappy with how we handle your data you can complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk) or your local EU supervisory authority.
Translations
This page can be shown in other languages for convenience. If a translation and the English ever differ, the English version of this page is the one that applies, because that is the version we wrote and checked. Tell us about any translation that reads wrongly and we will correct it.
Changes
If we make material changes to this policy we will update this page and the date at the top.
